Australia is rocked by another alleged shopping centre stabbing as police swoop to arrest teenagers

A teenager has been stabbed after men allegedly armed with machetes fought in another knife attack at an Australian shopping centre.

The alleged gang fight at Melbourne’s Highpoint Shopping Centre on Thursday evening is the second within a week at the mall and comes just days after the Westfield Bondi Junction mass killing.

In the latest incident, a knife fight broke out between six males near a cinema inside the shopping centre in Maribyrnong, in Melbourne’s north, at 6.10pm, police allege.

The mass attack is then alleged to have spread to a nearby restaurant, before police and security guards wearing stabproof vests swooped on the scene.

‘The safety of all visitors, retailers and staff is our utmost priority at all times.’

An 18 year old male from St Albans was taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds to his arm.

Three other teenagers aged 17 and 18 were arrested at the scene, with the 17 year old charged with various assault and weapons charges.

He was bailed and will return to children’s court at a later date.

The incident comes after a 19-year-old man was arrested and charged after  an alleged stabbing at the popular shopping centre on Sunday.

The alleged stabbing in the city’s west took place about 2.30pm, police said, with two men involved in the altercation inside a restaurant.
